Graceful

Posted by Barbara Kile (Ft. Worth, United States) on 18 August 2011 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Ok, ok! Back to flowers! Y'all are demanding! lol

Hope it's ok that I photograph the Pacific coastline and ocean, cuz that's where I'm headed in a few days. Yea! I get to escape the triple digits, which are still in full force. Over 50 days this summer already. Until then, more flowers......

There's nothing more graceful than the gentle curves of a gladiolus or similar flower. Texture overlay x 2

More flowers and texture overlays on my new website! Stop by!

WELCOME and thanks for visiting!

Graceful is an appropriate title indeed.
Your work is definitely gorgeous and is paying an exquisite tribute to flowers.

Gorgeous! Beautiful capture and processing. Lovely colors. I just love Gladiolas. I grew up with lots of them, and they remind me of my childhood. They are not easy to photograph, and you did a fantastic job.
It is easy to get pegged into one photographic category. I've noticed that on my blog. Though I love your flowers, I encourage you to expand if you so desire. I thought your last post was stunning--truly Texas.
Terrible heat you are in. Hope your getaway is refreshing.

@Anita: Thanks, Anita. I would photograph all nature but there just isn't much here. That's why I have to do workshops &/or travel. Flowers in my macro studio is all I have. iPhoneography is fun with all the apps, but it's not my first love. Looking forward to seeing the ocean next week! :)

Barbara, beautiful, but that is the norm for you. Enjoy your sojourn to the coast!

I wanted to add to my comment. I love how you manage to make the flowers look almost like a combination painting-drawing--soft colors, but defined lines. Very beautiful.

Love your flowers, but look forward to trip photos when you return. I'm with you on getting out of this heat. Have a great trip, and happy shooting.

I often think of trying something new. Your work is the number one style I always think of but know I could never compare to your talent doing this process. It is most certainly one of a kind.

@Gary: Thanks, Gary, but it's time to try some! If you have a working knowledge of layers, blending modes and masks, this is a fun thing to try! Some sources for free textures on Flickr to get started are pareeerica and 'skeletal mess'. Free textures for giving them credit and a great place to start. Search 'textures for layer' along with tutorials. Message me when you have one you like so I'll be sure not to miss it! Start with a flower, a barn or any subject you like.
