This half-opened lily just seemed to be a good macro shot. Applying a texture however was a challenge, as the lily filled most of the frame. What I did not want was a static feel, nor did I want a competing texture. What I did want was to set the lily apart from its background and retain the white.

So, I chose one of my tile/stone textures, changed the hue, and applied it with low opacity and overlaid my white linen layer with a different blending mode. I ended up painting most of the texture off the flower to give the flower a bit of 'pop' against the background.

Tomas Turecek from Czech Republic

I think that you did pretty well with this and you achieved what you wanted - the flower really pops up. The soft delicate colours are very nice and the sharpness of anthers is excellent. This would have to be printed out on a big format to fully enjoy the pleasure of the look. Excellent work!
