Anita from West Nottingham, United States

Simply stunning! What did you do to the flowers to get the sharply defined edges? Thanks for explaining about the texture, as I'm starting to photograph my own and it gives me new ideas. This is just a fabulous combination of a lovely flower photo with excellent post processing.

7 Oct 2009 10:52pm

@Anita: Thanks, Anita! I'm loving this texture, and simply grabbed it while visiting N. Carolina a little over a week ago - it was a wall along the sidewalk outside a place we had brunch. I guess I'm learning to spot stuff like this, even though I've had a folder of textures for some time. For pop &/or sharpness, I use Topaz detail some of the time, sometimes selective sharpening &/or some contrast adjustment. Sometimes I try one and it's too much or use a combination. A hint John Barclay gave me once was to use unsharp mask (on a full size image) at 20-50-0 (yes, weird I know) for contrast. Try it and see how you like it. For a web-sized image, cut the values in half.....

Anita from West Nottingham, United States

Barbara: Thanks for the response. I have used that type of heavy sharpening in the past, but a long time ago. Time to try it again. Also, thanks for describing the texture. Now that I've started photographing textures, I, too, see them all over the place! What fun! A whole new world to photograph and play with.

9 Oct 2009 11:37am

@Anita: The 20-50-0 is more for contrast and for me, is more appealing than a curves layer. Sometimes it's too much but often works very well. Happy Day!

Marie from FRESNES, France

magnifique rendu !!!

Bob Towery from Granite Bay, United States

This is some of the most creative work I have seen on the web ANYWHERE. I really love it when an image does this to me: "um, can't be a photo, too painterly. Can't be a painting, too realistic. What is it?"

11 Oct 2009 11:36pm

@Bob Towery: Thanks, Bob. I like messing with peoples' minds. :-) Seriously, I do appreciate the nice compliment!

Claudiu from București, Romania
