While walking around a farm looking for some subject matter to photograph, I looked up (what a concept!) and in the distance was this stand of trees just lit up extravagantly by the sun. I made my way over as fast as I could, set up and fired the shutter, knowing the light can change so quickly. In looking at the RGB histogram I noticed I 'blew out' the red channel. One of those lessons when shooting reds...... check all the channels of the histogram! I made the adjustment in-camera for the red channel; I further went with underexposure during post processing as it rendered the background darker. The trees were then brightened with some Orton technique at reduced opacity to help create the contrast you see here.
