Shy Gazania

I loved the detail in this daisy, but it only opens when it's had an adequate amount of sunlight. I thought the outer petals, with the complimentary yellow and purple, were lovely, so captured it that way! It seemed a shame to leave it against white so I applied a motion blur to a complimentary texture, lightened it so it would not compete with the flower, overlaid it and painted most of it off the flower.

Absolutely stunning, Barbara. The detail in the flower is exquisite. The background is perfect and worth every bit of work that you put into it.

@john4jack: Appreciate it, Jack!

Wow. The flower might be shy...but nothing shy about the image. Such intimate clarity and scrumptious color, both flower and background.

The details in the stripes, the gradation of colours, the sharpness and the pleasant geometry of the flower is charming the eye! I know gazanias to be very photogenic...as if created to be photographed, though - as flowers - I find them a bit stiff. Your work is - as always - amazing!

Great work Barbara, especially on your background, masking it away from the flower is a great technique for overlaid textures.
