Julie Brown from Indianapolis, United States

A blooming coneflower, with no holes in the petals! Early summer? Beautiful composition and presentation.

@Julie Brown: Thanks, Julie! Yes, much earlier. There's nothing here worth photographing now - unless you buy it! Still mid 90s.

Barbara from Oakland, United States

This is lovely! Barbara, you are certainly nudging me towards trying some texture overlays! As soon as serious fall/winter rains set in here, I am going to sit down at the computer and give it a try!

exquisite. I've had the Composer since it came out, but have rarely used it. It's long been on my to-do list.

5 stars. I think this is one of your best flower macros, Barbara. The incredible detail, that wears a slight blur; the double layer afterglow; and the exquisite color and warm glow of the bee and flower are just so exquisitely tender !!

Vinay from Bangalore, India

truly marvelous... I sometime back tried this effect but with a diffusion filter.. but the result wasn't as effective as yours. :) Seems like a Photoshop (I mean GIMP) touch is really necessary for my photographs. :)

@Vinay: Thanks, Vinay. The Orton technique will give you the 'halo' or glow you might want. I use that technique a lot! This tutorial should help: http://www.naturephotographers.net/articles0106/dw0106-1.html Sometimes I even scale the blurry image to 100.5% or 101% for more glow. Experiment and have fun!
