Rodeo Time!

Posted by
Barbara Kile (Ft. Worth, United States) on 24 January 2011 in Business & Industry and Portfolio.

Yes, folks, it's Stock Show and Rodeo time in Fort Worth! So, I ventured over with my iPhone and took some happy snaps. This was captured with the ProHDR app/camera, then used various apps to crop, add sharpening, more color, vignette, and the photo border. Only brought into the computer to size for the web.

WELCOME and thanks for visiting!

For anyone interested, my recent work is now on my WEBSITE: http://www.barbarakilephoto.com/

Oh, Barbara, this is not a happy snap. This is art! Love the color, the pattern, the texture. I cannot wait to get my iPhone - I am a Verizon gal, we do not get ATT at this house, so soon, but not right away, cause I understand a better iPhone will be available later this summer. Then I can get on board with all my buddies! Just love this photo. But, then, I always wanted to be a cowgirl!

@Barbara Lee: Thanks, Cowgirl! Funny, we don't get verizon at this house! You would have to go outside to make a call -and then it's hit and miss. You'll be able to get your iphone soon! So many apps..... so little time.......

WOW, so very artful. I can't believe this is taken with an iPhone.
Those must be terrific apps you have, too. Do you mind saying what they are?
The color and light on these boots just make the shot. Bravo.

@DULCIE: Thanks, Dulcie. Apps used: ProHDR, PhotoStudio (vignette, frame/border), Photogene (saturation and crop).

I agree with Barbara Lee-this is art! I love the color and the weathering on the boots, and you framed this very nicely. Don't you just love your iphone? I will have to try out these apps. Do you use the HDR feature with capture that comes with the newest operating system? I find that it makes a difference.

26 Jan 2011 10:36am

@Julie Brown: Thanks, Julie! I've been using ProHDR app, but I know there is a feature in the regular iphone camera. Is that the one you're referring to? You like it better?

yes, its the new in-camera HDR feature I was referring to. I have not used any any photo apps yet, but I need to try some. There are so many images on my phone that I haven't even uploaded to my computer. Mostly I take photos to email to family and friends. I really like being able to do that.

27 Jan 2011 10:08am

@Julie Brown: Be sure when you upload to your computer that the image is not compressed or you could lose file info. Email may compress to the point where you can't 'edit' an image. The app PhotoTransfer, which is free I think, sends the image wirelessly to your computer. You can also attach the phone to the computer, and grab edited images that way. They will be larger files. The app PhotoSize (free) will tell you instantly how large a file is, so you can be sure you are preserving all info. The camera is only 5 MP so you want to handle the images properly. For edits you will want to be sure each app is set to save at maximum resolution. That setting is either inside the app or in the iphone system settings if you scroll down on the settings page.

Gorgeous processing! It brings off the beauty of the work on the boots...which generally goes unnoticed!
