Cactus Week #2

Posted by
Barbara Kile (Ft. Worth, United States) on 17 March 2011 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

This succulent, another iPhone capture, underwent a hue change, then I used Artista Oil to render the painterly look.

Brilliant, in both senses of the word. I love the close crop, the colors, and technique.
It looks like you slathered paint on with a palette knife. Superb.

amazing image. i just spontaneously went "wow!" when it came on the screen. your iphone work the last few posts have been extraordinary. i especially like the cabin. you have me thinking about getting an iphone. one question: with the low resolution, is there anyway to blow the image up to large size for framing, for example, that will look good. i know there is some software out there that's supposed to do this kind of thing. any ideas???

@joemulligan: Thanks, Joe. Once you use a few apps on an image it can be about 3 mb. 2-3 mb will end up to be an 8x10 and can be resized upward to 11x14 or more for sure. Photoshop can resize upward so you may already have what you need. You might do some research into when the next version of iPhone is coming out - the 4G shouldn't be too far away. Might be worth waiting a few months to get the latest version.
