Focus - Life Lesson #4

Posted by
Barbara Kile (Ft. Worth, United States) on 20 April 2011 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

Learning to be quiet, away from the distractions of our day, is necessary for our health and well being. There is healing in nature. Have you taken an 'artist's date' with yourself to focus on an aspect of nature in a quiet place such as a beautiful forest, a nature trail, a garden nearby, or just gazing at the clouds? We can give more effectively to others when we are refreshed and our 'tank' is full - not empty.

Tomas Turecek from Czech Republic

Fantastic shot!!! Great DOF and composition, just perfect processing. About the life lesson - I think we all need to "turn off" sometimes. Relax so to say. I have 2 ways to do it: 1) photogpraphy where the only think I focus on is the subject, 2) books - I am a bookworm and I read almost everytime when I can. Books take my mind to different worlds, away from daily problems and rush. What about you, Barbara?

@Tomas Turecek: Thank you Tomas! I like to be by myself, especially on a nature walk where it's quiet. A camera or iPhone in my hand makes me ready to capture what I'm seeing. :)

As delicate as it is beautiful!

Julie Brown from Indianapolis, Indiana, United States

Very nice light and color. Wonderful advice as well, Barbara. Doing exactly that is what I use to alleviate stress.

@Julie Brown: Yes, we need those times in nature! Thanks, Julie

Anita from West Nottingham, United States

Perfect focus! My eye goes right to the sharp center of the left Daffodil. Wow!

Two themes: Focus and Silence. Silence is very important to me. I get a lot of it--living in the country, spending lots of time alone at home. It nurtures me. Focus is something I've been working on the past few years--keep my focus clear; focus on what is important to me, and let the rest go. Easier to do as I get older.

@Anita: Yes, I heard once that an extrovert receives their energy from being with people; an introvert is nurtured and energized by being alone. I'm with you on this one! Thanks!
