Pastels of Sunset

Posted by
Barbara Kile (Ft. Worth, United States) on 22 September 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

So much to photograph along the coastline - the hills, inlaid waterfalls, seaweed, fog..... but always remember to turn around! The light and color behind you may take your breath away. The pastels of this subtle sunset did just that. And, I'm partial to pastels so this was much to my liking! After turning around, I took many images while I watched the light and color change. I also loved the patterns of the water during the ebb and flow of the surf.

Unbelievable. This is fantastic. I hope you will post others as well, showing the slowly shifting kaleidoscope of colors. And great advice: turn around. I have been amazed too many times by what I have seen.

I like this beauty...Texan coastline, I presume, not what I'm used to seeing. PS: I'd like to see some of your wonderful textured flowers on 1x.com, you belong there, barbara! :O)

22 Sep 2011 1:39pm

@janina: Thanks, Janina! No, not in Texas. This was captured on the northern California coast during a recent trip. I'll check out 1x.com. Actually went to www.ix.com and it wasn't correct. Another link? Thanks.

Barbara Lee from Oakland, United States

This is gorgeous Barbara. I have rarely seen such a soft look at the Big Sur coast. You did yourself proud with this shot!

Totally Rad. Did you use any Snapart3? It would make a wonderful painting.

22 Sep 2011 2:59pm

@Jim: Thanks photo buddy! No Snapart on this one but I have been playing with it on other coastal images. Stay tuned! :)

Gary from Cochise County, United States

Beautiful pastels. I like how they go from the sky to the water.

Craig McCord from Kansas City, United States

Very nice image Barbara. About your admonishment to turn around I would just caution when close to the surf, particularly on the west coast. It has a habit of catching you off guard. Other than that, your words are so true.

22 Sep 2011 8:12pm

@Craig McCord: Thanks, Craig! And..... I left with wet feet - just lifted the tripod up. :)
