Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

Lucky you to have it for Christmas! Mine, the one year-old, bloomed again this year, in January. What a triumph for me! But two other plants (less quality bulbs) are only making leaves! And I bought a new one a few days back, it might look just like yours! Aren't they beautiful?! Small treasures, indeed!

@Japanalia: Can't wait to see yours! Thank you.

I have a few Amaryllis outdoors but they did not bloom this year. I guess if I want flowers I will need to get some indoor ones. This is a beauty.

Gorgeous blossom, love the striping that you have caught to beautifully here, as well as the intense color they present. So cheery for January. Mine is slowly growing its green things (potted up right after Christmas). I heard that one can put them outside in summer, bring them in, give them a rest of a few weeks with darkness and no water, and then repot. That's what a recent gardening article said, anyway!

15 Jan 2012 3:46am

@karla: Yes, I think there are ways to get them to re bloom. Hope yours does well! Thanks!
