Be Still My Heart

Posted by
Barbara Kile (Ft. Worth, United States) on 16 January 2012 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

That's exactly what I said when I viewed this through the viewfinder. I love soft focus. I hadn't played with the Lensbaby in a while, so with the Soft Focus Optic in place and 2 wide open aperture rings, one regular and one soft focus, I started playing with some cyclamen.

I used a Topaz Adjust tonal layer to enhance the gentle pink I wanted.

Hossein Saharnaz from Ahvaz, Iran

fantastic....pi.explain about picture control setting in d300 .which way is the best condition?......and also explain about bracketing.

16 Jan 2012 7:41am

@Hossein Saharnaz: Thank you Hossein! Help me understand your question. I'll try an answer. As for picture control setting, I use manual exposure, although many photographers use aperture priority. There is a menu setting for bracketing, although I do not use it much, unless I am shooting HDR. I prefer to look at my histogram in the LCD monitor on the back of the camera to judge my exposure. Bracketing is taking maybe 3 exposures - one at the correct meter setting (based on histogram) and one shot a stop brighter and another a stop darker. If I didn't answer your question, please ask again.

Nice work! Love the soft look and color that fills the frame. Lensbaby creates some wonderful images. When I tried using it, I got dizzy! (Cloning out the few little blemishes would make this perfect.)

Perfect title for this beauty. I haven't done macro in a while (bird obsession), and I was thinking of getting a Lensbaby at one point. It sure is a good way to expand your creativity, although you are never at a loss for that!

Really beautiful Barbara. I've never used a Lensbaby but it looks like a lot of fun! I think what really attracts me to this image is the positioning of the soft sensual lines of the petals and the strong bold pink you used as an anchor point - great composition!
