Magnolia Blossom

Posted by
Barbara Kile (Ft. Worth, United States) on 8 March 2012 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

When we get '5-10' days around here, meaning the wind is very light, I'm out of the house! On this day, it was not only a '5-10' day, it was overcast. ANOTHER reason to head to the Botanical Garden! These days are rare, and they are PERFECT for flower photography, so I was in hog's heaven! I had to remind myself to take a deep breath, relax and not rush. It was like I was a kid in a candy store or something. I spied a magnolia tree on my way out of the gardens, and there were many blossoms at eye level. Every time I find something special to photograph, I consider it a gift!

The blossom looks like it was inviting you in. You could not have arranged it any better. Lovely detail on the focal point.

You're delighting our eyes with this marvel of nature! How I envy you that you've already got magnolias in bloom! Here we're witnessing the Battle of the Seasons...Winter doesn't want to leave and kicks back constantly; Spring is too shy to impose the sweetness of warm, sunny days....And the poor flowers are just waiting caught in between the Fighters!

You did hit the jackpot with weather, wind and flowers. I have not made it to the BG this spring, and since the weather has turned wet (a good thing!) I doubt I will make it anytime soon. Catch Dallas Blooms if you can. I'd love to see what you do with the tulips.

Barbara this is exquisite! Your works are so spectacular! We have two lovely magnolia trees in our yard which are currently being pounded by rain. I hope some blossoms remain after this week! You should teach a course in how you met such great post processing results.
